Hathead Season

I usually write this blog at home, where I can give my full attention to each entry. However, this has been such a busy week at the salon, that I am just now finding time to write - on a Friday night at work, sneaking a few moments while our evening clients are being finished. The topic today is an easy one, because it's what everyone's been talking about: It's cold outside!

Winter has certainly made its entrance, even if it is technically still fall. With the temperatures so low, we are all bundled up, and while I love to show off my purple cashmere gloves, I absolutely hate what this weather does to my hair. Between scarves, hats, and hoods my hair is a static mess! Not to mention the valuable lesson I learned about turtlenecks (if you put one on in the morning, do not change your mind about what to wear!) I almost hate to admit this, but I have to metro out to a dinner party this Saturday, and all week long I've been worried about what my hair will look like when I get there. What is the perfect combination of haircare and outerwear that will help me deal with the cold and still look fabulous?

Fortunately, I have discovered a secret weapon in Myrrhea Silkening Fluid, part of a new product line from Rene Furterer. Made of Myrrh extract and avocado oil, the fluid nourishes and smooths hair. It is supposed to be applied before styling, but I use it both before and after. As someone who frequently suffers from "Goldilocks syndrome" (this product is too heavy; that product is too light), I have found the fluid to be just right for these cold wintery days and nights. It is part of a line that includes a Myrrhea shampoo and mask. This line has arrived just in time to ensure that when people say you look warm and fuzzy this winter, they are talking about your sweater and not your hair.
