Black Friday may get all the attention, but for the salon it is the Wednesday before Thanksgiving that has us in a frenzy. With clients trying to squeeze in an appointment before heading off to meet the family, our relatively casual Wednesday turns into an all hands on deck/full court press/ready, set, go whirlwind of activity. Since this is just the beginning of the holiday mayhem, I offer a few tips to help make your holiday hair days go as smoothly as possible.
1. Schedule as early as you can. This is pretty much a given, but if you have little flexibility in your schedule, it is even more imperative. Morning and evening appointments fill up quickly.
2. If your holiday event falls in between your regular color schedule, consider a gloss or conditioning treatment to refresh your color. A gloss will cover faded locks while also adding shine. A conditioning treatment will make dry, dull hair look healthy and rejuvenated. In fact, I'd recommend both services as they can be done together.
3. Set up multiple services in one visit. We offer nail and skin care services, so you can make the most of your time by scheduling a manicure while your color is processing or adding a quick eyebrow wax before or after your hair service.
4. Speaking of multi-tasking, you can get your holiday shopping done while getting your hair done. We sell candles and diffusers that smell just like your favorite hair products, plus lotions and body scrubs. And, of course, gift cards! Who wouldn't want a gift card for a Hot Stone Body Treatment or Spa Manicure & Pedicure?
5. Need a 2 hour highlight service, but only have 30 minutes to spare? Forget the color and get a foot reflexology instead. You will be in such a state of bliss that you won't even care about your roots. Trust me, I have seen this first-hand. People walk out of the spa room glowing.
My most important tip? When in doubt, just ask. There may be a solution to your hair and scheduling issues that you never even imagined. We have a talented and creative team that has been known to pull off a few Christmas miracles.
