Goldilocks

Spring is finally here, and naturally the first thing that comes to my mind is, "Goodbye, hairdryer!"  As much as I love wearing long hair again - after two years of Posh Spice inspired 'dos - the extra time and energy required to blow-dry it was turning me into Grumpy Spice.  The first day of warm weather, I decided to go with my natural wave, so I used a lighter shampoo and conditioner, put in my usual styling products and let it air dry.  It looked great.  Then I got dressed.  As soon as my shirt came over my head, my hair turned into a static cling experiment.  I realized that I was getting ahead of myself.  Yes, it was warm, but the air was still dry, and I should have stuck with my moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.

The following day, I went back to the moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, but used the same styling products - a light hold spray and finishing serum.  My hair looked great.  I got dressed - still great.  But at some point in the afternoon, I looked in the mirror and saw a huge mess of frizz staring back at me.  So the next day, same shampoo and conditioner, but this time a curl enhancing product and strong hold pomade to help define the wave.  My hair looked great.  Afternoon check in the mirror, however, revealed that my hair looked flat and heavy.  Day four - same shampoo and conditioner, then a cocktail of four products - curl enhancer, pomade, light leave-in moisturizer, and finishing serum.  Using a little at a time, I slowly but surely achieved the right combination of curl definition, volume, and frizz reduction.  It looked great.....but took me twice as long as it would have taken me to blow-dry it.

Wondering if I should just give up and try to convince everyone that frizz is the trend this Spring (hey, skinny models can get away with it), I couldn't believe my eyes when our Rene Furterer rep walked through the door with their latest product line - Acanthe, a curl enhancing shampoo, conditioner, and styling cream.  The line will be available in April, but she gave me some of the cream to try.  The first time I used it, it worked so well that I got a little misty-eyed.  It defined the curls, but with a soft finish.  I was so excited that, well, I slept in later the next morning.
