In celebration of Earth Day this week, I'd like to remind you how easy it is to go green with your haircare. At the salon, we proudly carry the Privé and Rene Furterer haircare lines, both of which are plant-based, as well as the Sukí skincare line, which uses all natural ingredients. Privé features Concept Vert shampoo and conditioner, which are certified Environmentally Preferred Products (EPP), meaning they come in recyclable and reusable packaging, and are high-yield - a 6.7 ounce can provides the same amount of use as a 13 ounce bottle of other shampoos and conditioners. You can access their Eco-Friendly Socially Responsible Mission Statement here. Sukí also uses recyclable and reusable packaging. You can check out their environmental policy here.
In addition to using environmentally friendly products, you can also reduce your energy consumption by turning off your hairdryer. Now that the weather is warming up, go natural with your hair. Plus, as the May issue of Marie Claire with Jessica Simpson on the cover shows, au natural is the trend this summer. We are now carrying the new Rene Furterer Acanthe line for curl definition which I mentioned in my last post. This is the perfect product to apply and go, leaving your hair soft and wavy, and avoiding the crunchiness that comes from so many other curl defining products.
Finally, the best way to reduce your carbon footprint is to schedule multiple services in one visit. While we love seeing our clients as frequently as possible, you can save time and gas by combining hair, nail, and skin care services. Most of these services can be performed around each other - for example, a manicure or reflexology while your color is processing. Or come in a little early for a wax service and save yourself a second trip. Turns out that green is a great color for your hair!
