As someone who spends most of my day scheduling clients for multiple services with multiple people with multiple time constraints, I was blown away by the precision with which the royal wedding took place. Even the kiss on the balcony came right on schedule. And yet as elaborate and grandiose as the occasion was, in a sea of outrageous hats, Kate - now Catherine, now Duchess - looked elegant and effortless. The Duchess looked like a lady. I admit, I was hoping for a dramatic up-do. But I read that she wanted to keep her hair down so that Prince William would recognize her. After all, her long flowing locks are her signature look.
At yet as effortless as her hair looked, her hairdresser admitted that he had practiced her style so many times that he could do it in his sleep. This doesn't surprise me at all. Because, really, an effortless and natural look does not mean lack of maintenance. It means keeping your hair and skin healthy. Regular trims and conditioning for your hair. The correct products to cleanse, exfoliate, and rebalance your skin. In our busy lives, looking effortlessly put-together is something we all want. Clients tell us that they don't have the time to invest in a high-maintenance style. Wash and wear is the way they roll.
The fact is that looking effortless requires some effort. The good news is that it doesn't require a lot of effort, just consistency. Invest in the right products for your hair and skin. Don't wait for your roots or split ends to get out of control before making an appointment. Take a little time to take care of yourself. Because while we can't all be princesses, we can certainly all be ladies.
